Engelbach writes about the installation ‘Of one World’ which
was realized by The ‘Edition Bewegter Bilder’ - a cooperation
between Museum Ludwig and the collection Rheingold: “In her latest
work … the artist presents female nudes embedded in a broad, paradisiacal
landscape, while the sole male moves about like a stranger and his attempts
to make erotic contact elicit no response. These images are accompanied
by passages from Jürgen Habermas’s ‘The Theory of Communicative
Action’, which compel the viewer to assume a reflective distance
– one that Antonioni deliberately avoided in his famous desert scene
in ‘Zabriskie Point’. Not for the first time Schnitt focuses
in her video on the subjects of originality and immediacy, which can only
be brought to light through staging before being developed into images.”
